All Things Flooring

It’s been a minute since I’ve done a blog post but what better way to get back into it than with the highly requested floor update. Although it was a rocky start with my floors to say the least (more on that another day) they are finally finished and I am obsessed.

To give you a little backstory, I bought a townhouse in April and although I could have moved in that day, I have a weird phobia of “living in someone else’s dirt” AKA carpet. I knew when I bought it that I wanted to replace the carpeted floors and so I did in 85% of the house. The only place left is my room but when estimated it pushed me over my budget so I settled with buying a few rugs. Anyway, I had pinned ideas of the color and style of floors that I wanted- light grey or white, long and wide planks, and beveled. The inspiration picture that I was absolutely obsessed with was this one

I loved everything about them. (Notice how they have a dip in between them? I came to find out this is beveling.)

I knew I was going to go with the brand Pergo so I scoured the internet for pictures of similar styles and went with Graceland Oak. (Shown Below)

I ordered mine from Home Depot. To give you the short story of how everything progressed:

  • 1. A flooring person came and measured the space2.
  • I went to the store to review the measurements with an associate
  • 3. Told them the flooring brand and color I chose(They put this into the computer which calculates all the materials and labor costs)
  • 4. They told me an OVERpriced amount
  • 5. I took a few deep breaths and told myself it was going to be worth it
  • 6. I begrudgingly signed up for their credit card (I was able to get 24 months free financing)
  • 7. They signed me up with a date that the materials would come in.

Like I mentioned above, between this point and me moving in A LOT of things went wrong but that’s for another day.
So here they are- THE FINAL FLOORS!

I think the biggest thing to note about them is the color. Although skewing more cool-toned in the photos due to an overcast day,  they are very neutral. You could pair them with grey walls or beige and there is enough variance in the planks to match either (another added bonus.)
